The Highland AMVETS July monthly meeting was one of celebration, progress, and deep reflection. Members gathered for an evening filled with meaningful updates, exciting developments, and community-driven momentum. A great meal from Buffalo Wild Wings brought everyone together in good spirits.

Welcoming Special Guests and New Members
We were honored to welcome State 1st Vice Commander David McKale and his wife to our gathering, showing their continued support and leadership at the state level. Their presence was a reminder of the strength and unity across all AMVETS posts.
We are excited to announce the inclusion of seven new members, which increases our active membership to 288 and growing. Amazing! This expansion highlights the importance of community and fellowship among veterans. This growth not only bolsters our mission but also enhances our impact.
Supporting the Next Generation: Air Rifle Team Success
Our post was thrilled to support the Putnam County Air Rifle Team during their recent National Shooting Competition. Their success is a testament to dedication and community backing. We’re especially proud of Jayden Grider, who received a generous monetary award in recognition of her standout performance. We celebrate her achievement and are honored to have played a part in the team’s journey.
Momentum from Decatur: A Model for National Collaboration
Following our groundbreaking service project in Decatur, TN, where five AMVETS posts united to assist a widow in need, Commander Dwayne is actively working on future inter-post efforts. This collaboration marked a first in AMVETS national history, and it serves as a shining example of what’s possible when we come together for the greater good.
Looking Ahead: Projects That Change Lives
With more opportunities to serve ahead, our members are preparing for several upcoming projects, including a full house move and multiple build efforts to support veterans, the disabled, and others in need. Each task reflects our continued commitment to action, fueled by faith and generosity. Stay tuned to our webpage and social media for details and the call to participate.
**REMEMBER** Commander Dwayne introduced a new initiative aimed at encouraging and recognizing participation, which includes earning a fashionable new work shirt and pin badges for consistent attendance at team and post projects. This initiative provides a significant opportunity to maintain fellowship and service in our post-service lives.

Powered by Generosity: Our Community at Work
We are incredibly grateful for the continuous support from our local community. From numerous generous donors to dedicated post members who tirelessly work to raise funds, every contribution makes a difference. We believe it’s no coincidence: God consistently brings the right people and resources at the perfect time to make these missions possible. The vitality of our post is a wonderful blessing, thanks to those with a giving spirit. So, to all the kind individuals who donate to our hardworking vets at Tractor Supply and other businesses: THANK YOU!!!
Prayers and Support for Our Own
We ask for your continued prayers and support for several members and families in need:
Vicky, wife of Commander Dwayne, who will undergo hip surgery soon
Craig, as he continues recovering from partial amputation surgery
Jimmy Horn, who is recovering at CRMC following a medical emergency at the conclusion of our meeting
And for all those quietly facing trials, that they may feel the strength and peace of the Lord and the support of our brotherhood
Together, we serve not just as veterans, but as a family by uplifting our community, one project and one person at a time.
