On Saturday, September 6, 2025, about 15 members of Highland AMVETS Post 44 came together for a community project, rain and all. The focus was a ramp that had become unsafe for veteran survivor Theresa. Its foundation was weak, and it simply was not safe for her to use with confidence.
In about an hour, our team installed new entrance rails, renovated the bottom landing, and reinforced the joints and structure to make the ramp sturdy and secure again. Theresa can now rely on it without worry.
The work was filled with good fellowship, laughter, and teamwork. When the project was finished, members even had time to lend a quick hand to another elderly veteran, Bob, by re-locating his porch swing.
Rain or shine, Highland AMVETS Post 44 remains committed to serving veterans and strengthening our community together.
The Real Focus
This project was about more than wood and nails. For Theresa, it meant having a safe and steady ramp she can trust every day. For Bob, it meant being able to enjoy his porch swing again. And for our members, it is a reminder that simple acts of service bring comfort, dignity, and connection to the veterans who have given so much.
