Highland AMVETS Post 44 September Meeting: A Stormy Day, A United Heart

On Monday, September 22, Post 44 gathered for our monthly meeting. Though the stormy weather kept a few friends away, the room was full of cheer and fellowship. Our shared purpose kept us united, proving once again that when our hearts are one, nothing is missing.

We enjoyed a great barbecue dinner courtesy of Rib City in Cookeville. Sharing a meal together set the perfect tone for the evening.

A Warm Welcome to New Members

As always, a fantastic highlight of our Highland AMVETS monthly meetings is introduction and swearing-in of new members. This month we had the honor and privilege of welcoming 3 new members, strengthening the ranks of Post 44. Each addition to our Post is a reminder that our mission continues to grow.

Giving Back Beyond Veterans

Commander Dwayne introduced a new initiative that reaches beyond our veteran family. A donated car will soon be gifted to a young, college-bound senior. This act of generosity reflects Post 44’s dedication not just to veterans, but to the wider community we serve.

Resources Shared

Post 44 is dedicated to ensuring veterans and their families have access to meaningful support:

  • Michael Campbell, Licensed Social Worker – volunteering 5–10 hours each week to provide non-therapeutic support for veterans in distress, facing trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, or loss. With the recent devastating loss in our post and so much tragedy in the past month, Michael was inspired to step up and help our brothers and sisters in need. With a heart to love and to serve, he is ready and available to those in need. You can reach him at (714) 919-6709.

  • Warrior PATHH – a program for veterans, active duty, and first responders dealing with PTSD and trauma. This is real help with real impact. You can use Chaplain Miguel Gomez as a referral for this program. For more information and application link, go to: https://bouldercrest.org/program/warrior-pathh/

  • Operation Heal Our Patriots – a Christian marriage retreat offered by Samaritan’s Purse, designed for post-9/11 combat wounded veterans and their spouses who are struggling. Absolutely transformational experience for those whose marriages are in distress. Our service brought with it so many challenges, and many times our marriages suffered in the course of our mission. This is the love of God being poured onto marriages for healing. Applications for the 2026 season will be accepted beginning 11 Nov 2025! Also use Chaplain Miguel as a referral for this program.
