On July 31st, 2025, Highland AMVETS Post 44 completed another successful community project. This time, helping a fellow veteran, Jordan, move into a more suitable apartment. The mission was simple: lighten the load for a brother who needed a hand.
Jordan was relocating from a two-story apartment into a more accessible ground-floor unit due to mobility concerns. That move wasn’t just about comfort, it was about quality of life. And when we heard he could use some help, Post 44 members didn’t hesitate to answer the call.
A group of our volunteers showed up early and worked hard. We packed, loaded, hauled, and unpacked, all with the purpose of taking pressure off Jordan and making the transition smooth. Veterans and family members worked side-by-side with the kind of quiet efficiency that comes from shared experience and mutual respect.
By the end of the day, Jordan was in his new home, grateful and relieved. And our team left knowing we had done exactly what we’re here to do: to be our brother's keeper and take real action when it’s needed.
This wasn’t a headline-grabbing project. It didn’t require a big budget or major planning. It just took people willing to show up and follow through—and that’s exactly what Highland AMVETS Post 44 is about.
Why It Matters
This is what local veteran support looks like. It's not just meetings or ceremonies, it's real-world help that meets real-life needs. These are the kinds of projects that keep veterans connected, respected, and seen.
We share these stories not to boast, but to show the value of what we do and why support matters. Every truck, every pair of work gloves, every bottle of water handed out...these things are made possible by the financial support of our community partners and donors.

If you believe in helping veterans in practical, impactful ways, we invite you to get involved:
